The Witness Ring Details @ The Witness Ring

The ruby reminds us of the water that Jesus, also called Christ, turned into wine. Wine is a symbol of the blood of Christ. The turning of water into wine symbolizes the changing of the covenant between God and man. Prior to Jesus, God required us to obey the Laws of God. If we obey the Law then we can go to Heaven and live with God. But no one can obey all the laws all of the time. We all sin. Therefore, under the Law, we are all separated from God. Jesus turned the covenant of the Law into the covenant of His blood; just as He turned the water into wine.

In the early days of the Church, Christians were persecuted for believing in Christ. The secret symbol of the Christians was the fish (Ichthus in Greek) because Christ called us to be “fishers of men.” This means that we are to share the “Good News” with others. The body of the fish is broken as Christ said, “My body is broken for you.”

Christ shed his blood for us on the cross. He gave up His life as a sacrifice for our sin. Only Jesus’ life was acceptable as atonement for our sin because He was perfect, without sin; and He is the Son of God the Father. Being the Son of God, He rose from the dead after three days, thereby conquering death and living today in Heaven.

Christ said to remember the shedding of His blood by drinking the wine of communion; thus the tail of the broken fish is a golden cup with the wine (ruby).

Jesus ascended into Heaven to be with God the Father but promised to send His Holy Spirit to live within us. So God is three persons; God the Father, God the Son, and God the Holy Spirit (also called the Holy Ghost). The three diamonds represent this threefold nature of God.

The center stone is my birthstone. It signifies that I have been born again. Jesus said, “no one can enter the Kingdom of God unless he is born of water and the Spirit. Flesh gives birth to flesh, but the Spirit gives birth to spirit… you must be born again.” (John 3:5-7) Born Again means to be re-born in the spirit. The only requirement to be born again is to believe that Jesus is the Son of God and that He died in atonement of your sins. Jesus said, “For God so loved the world that He gave his one and only Son, that whoever believes in Him shall not perish but have eternal life. (John 3:16) Jesus also said, “I am the way, the truth, and the life. No one comes to the Father except though Me.” (John 14:6). So believe that Jesus is the risen Son of God, receive Him as your Savior, and you will be born again.

So this is my witness. I am born again and called to be a “fisher of men”. Christ sacrificed his body, broken for me; and He shed His blood on the cross. I remember this through the cup of communion. Jesus rose from the dead and ascended to heaven. The three diamonds are the threefold nature of God; Father, Son, and Holy Spirit.
